ncRNAPain first annual meeting

November 07, 2014

Almost a year after the start of the ncRNAPain project, coordinator Michaela Kress, invited project partners from all over Europe to meet in Berlin in order to review the progress so far and to pave the way for a solid and workable basis to implement next steps of the ncRNAPain work plan.

The meeting was hosted by management partner Eurice and took place at the Berlin premises of the company on November 2-3, 2014. It showed the tremendous work progress of the group achieved after the first 13 months of a successful collaboration. Having listened to the individual progress reports and vivid discussions the coordinator, Michaela Kress, and her collaborators were more than satisfied with the results presented so far.

Ensuring to keep track of the expected future progresses the partners agreed to have the next meeting in Mainz in spring 2015.

ncRNAPain is a four year collaborative project receiving a funding of  €6 million by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union. The project seeks to identify and validate specific ncRNAs that could serve as basis for the development of new drugs for pain prevention and relief. Diagnostic tools developed in the course of the project will enable better patient stratification, improved treatment and targeted prevention strategies for high risk individuals. ncRNAPain thus aims to provide a major advancement in both, the knowledge of how pain is generated, propagated and relieved, and in evidence-based diagnosis and treatment.
