European Molecular Biology Laboratory

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory is an international, non-profit organisation and a basic research institute funded by public research monies from 20 member states and one associate member. Research at EMBL is conducted by approximately 85 independent groups covering the spectrum of molecular biology. The EMBL Mouse Biology Unit at Monterotondo supports 8 research groups with a focus on mouse models of human disease. Service facilities include targeting vector design and generation, transgenic mouse production, and mouse phenotyping, with the aim of providing an efficient and rapid platform for the creation and analysis of mouse mutants.
