ncRNAPain's impact for the scientific community

The ncRNAPain project will build a strong scientific platform and improve innovation and competitiveness of European research. ncRNAPain harmonizes all initiatives of miR/ncRNA research in the pain field. All consortium members have excellent publication records, thus promising excellent scientific impact. By combining the expertise of the individual researchers through mutual support and data exchange, research activities are channelled into a joint collaborative effort which will accelerate scientific progress and innovation through collaboration.

ncRNAPain's impact for patients and health care providers

Future improvement of the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for chronic pain patients is a major socio-economic and societal challenge and expected to have a major positive impact on health care systems.

The project pursued a translational research approach, focussing on the development and validation of new diagnostic tools and therapies. The ncRNAPain consortium is strongly committed to a reverse translational/translation approach aiming at clinically applicable solutions and sustainability.

ncRNAPain's impact on European economy

Against the backdrop of the current economic situation and increased global competition, the ncRNAPain project has defined a strategy to support growth and job creation for innovation in Europe. The objectives outlined in this strategy clearly support the importance of improving Europe´s performance in research and innovation by the creation of new products or services. ncRNAPain sets out to bundle all miR/ncRNA initiatives in pain research together under a common theme playing a crucial role in reaching the goals of growth, competitiveness and employment.

ncRNAPain's impact for the European community

ncRNAPain is committed to improving the health of European citizens as well as increasing the competitiveness and boosting the innovative capacity of European health-related industries while addressing a global health issue. Translation of basic research results on ncRNAs’ role in the generation of pain into clinical applications including scientific validation of experimental results, will allow the development and validation of new therapies. Tackling the global issue of inexistency or insufficiency of current pain therapies, the project’s expected outcome will have a tremendous impact on patients affected, their environment and society as a whole.
